About Dr. Austin aibel

Hello there! My name is Dr. Austin Aibel and I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I have experience across all levels of eating disorders care, and am incredibly passionate about this work.

I also specialize in depression, anxiety, college student-specific mental health, and maternal mental health. I love seeing people across the age spectrum, from high school students, to young adults, to middle aged and beyond. All ages are welcome here.

I draw from feminist theory, and implement Health at Every Size principles in my therapy. Additionally, I believe that the “deeper level work” typically involves identifying and processing systemic social justice aspects of our relationships with food and our bodies.

I did not *ahem* thrive in college (to put it lightly). Because of my own rough history during those years, I have so much empathy for the specific struggles that college students face. I know what it’s like to feel hopeless, and to have to sit across from an older dude who gazes over his glasses and asks question after question without pausing to just talk to you like a damn human. So I have made it my mission to make therapy a different experience for you. Our time together will feel safe, easy, and you WILL feel seen.

In my work with mothers, I focus on fostering a space that feels safe to share their most secret and painful thoughts- this includes mothers of children who are no longer here on earth, folks who are mothers in their hearts without a child, and mothers of living children of all ages. I want all mothers to know that they do not have to feel hopeless or alone- and I help them to step into their authentic selves and release comparisons.

Important things for you to know about me: I am a huge nature and animal lover. If I wasn’t a psychologist, I would absolutely be a vet. I have a golden retriever named Rashida and a 3-legged rescued cat named Hiccup. They have a way of making them selves known and tend to make an appearance at times during our virtual sessions.

Dr. Austin Aibel offers comprehensive mental health and eating disorder treatment for adults and adolescents.

In addition to addressing specific conditions or symptoms, my goal is to guide and support my clients in identifying where they find meaning, purpose, satisfaction and joy. These are essential to nourishing and sustaining recovery.
